A specialised onsite refresher session focused on developing operators who can safely and confidently lift, place and retrieve loads at height.

High-reach operation requires more than general forklift experience. Working several metres above ground introduces additional challenges around visibility, load stability, mast movement, positioning, racking clearances and accurate pallet placement. Training is conducted at your workplace allowing operators to practise the skills they actually use on site.

Training covers

• Pre-start checks and equipment familiarisation
• Common high-reach equipment, racking and operating systems
• Mast, tilt, reach and visibility at height
• Correct positioning, fork alignment and pallet engagement
• Load stability, capacity and pallet condition
• Safe travel and positioning in narrow aisles
• Safe lifting, placement and retrieval of loads at height
• Racking clearances, beam awareness and shutdown procedures

Training can be tailored to the actual reach truck and storage system used at your workplace, including equipment such as:

Where fitted, the session can also incorporate equipment-specific features such as height selectors, fork cameras, load-height indicators or operator-assistance systems.

Why specialised High-Reach training?

An operator may hold an LF High Risk Work Licence but still have limited experience operating reach trucks or placing and retrieving loads at height. As operating height increases, small positioning errors can lead to struck racking, unstable loads, damaged pallets or dropped product.

This session helps businesses develop operators who can lift and retrieve loads safely, position pallets accurately, recognise racking and clearance hazards, and operate high-reach equipment with greater confidence and consistency. Training can be done around your high-reach forklifts, racking, operating heights, aisle widths, site procedures and typical loads.

Outcome Participants receive a non-accredited High Reach training Statement of Attendance

High-Reach Forklift Refresher Training is non-accredited workplace refresher/familiarisation training. It does not issue, replace or renew a High Risk Work Licence or nationally recognised training.

Order picker Refresher Training

Helps operators reset safe habits and improve confidence. A valuable option to reduce picking risks, improve consistency, and reinforce safe operation around racking and warehouse traffic. 

Training covers  

• Site hazards and safe work practices
• Visual and functional checks
• Safe travel and platform operation
• Harness use and height awareness
• Picking procedures and load handling
• Emergency lowering 
• Parking and shutdown procedures 

The session can be tailored to the workplace requirements, common operator issues, site procedures, and the loads handled.

Requirements

• A safe order picker in working condition
• Safe racking
• Suitable load and picking locations for practical activities
• Harnesses and required PPE

Outcome: Participants receive a non-accredited Order picker training Statement of Attendance

Duration Approximately 4–6 hours, depending on the equipment modules selected, participant experience, group size and assessment requirements.

• Vertical Lift (VL)
• Self-Propelled Boom Lift (BL), with a boom length under 11 metres

Training and assessment cover the equipment modules confirmed in your booking. Participants must complete the requirements for each module included on their Yellow Card.

Training covers

• Site hazards, risk controls and safe work practices
• Visual and functional pre-use checks
• Ground conditions, overhead hazards and exclusion zones
• Safe operation, manoeuvring and work positioning
• Emergency controls and lowering procedures
• Parking, shutdown and securing equipment

Training uses your workplace equipment and relevant site examples while meeting EWPA program requirements.

Requirements

• Safe, serviceable equipment for each booked module
• Suitable practical training area and space for theory activities
• Required PPE and appropriate footwear
• Participant identification and completed enrolment information
• Suitable tasks and sufficient time for individual practical assessment

Outcome
Following successful completion of the required training and assessment, participant will be issued an EWPA Yellow Card covering the equipment modules successfully completed.

Participants may also apply for a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for RIIHAN301E: Operate elevating work platform.

EWPA uses Industry Compliant Training (ICT) RTO: 40825. A Statement of Attainment (SoA) will be issued upon payment of a $50 fee per participant.
